Project Background

The Working with Men & Boys to Prevent Gender-Based Violence Tool Kit was created in response to the overwhelming call for practical and training tools reported in needs assessments by the Family Violence Prevention Fund and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This call was also strongly articulated in the Family Violence Prevention Fund’s 2003 online discussion series, “Building Partnerships to End Men’s Violence.” Funding for the discussion series and tool kit research was supported by the Office on Violence Against Women within the U.S. Department of Justice by grant number 2001-WT-BX-K019.

Funding for tool kit development is supported by grant number C13/CCU923010-01 from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center on Injury Prevention and Control as part of its Domestic Violence Prevention Enhancement Leadership Through Alliances (DELTA) Program.

The Family Violence Prevention Fund maintains and coordinates the tool kit as part of its ongoing commitment to enhancing prevention work with men and boys, which includes the Coaching Boys into Men program and the Founding Fathers Campaign.
